THE final home has been sold at a successful development that has transformed a notable gap site in one of Midlothian’s most bustling areas.

Mayburn Park is a new thriving community situated on previously unoccupied land adjacent to Loanhead Road, Straiton, familiar to the neighbouring retail park’s many shoppers and visitors.

The CALA Homes development has been an overwhelming success with buyers, delivering 90 much needed family properties to the market ranging from three-bedroom terraced to five-bedroom detached homes.

The site has even represented Scotland at the UK stage – with its site manager Ian Welsh winning large development of the year at the NHBC Regional Awards, going forward to become a finalist and runner up – in the UK awards in January.

Gavin Pope, Land Director with CALA Homes (East), said: “From day one Mayburn Park has been a truly popular development with buyers responding favourably to the space and luxury on offer.

“For us, it is always important that we are delivering homes that people want to live in. The team have got the balance just right here – from the choice of home-styles through to delivery, with Ian’s impressive transformation of the site getting national recognition.

“I’d like to also thank the neighbouring community for their support and patience throughout the build and hope that they feel the development has brought benefit to the local area.”

CALA’s recent investment in Midlothian directly resulted in the launch of the Midlothian CALA Homes Community Bursary in 2018 – and its return in 2019, resulting in a combined £20,000 distributed to 26 good causes in the region.

Gavin added: “Over the last two years the Midlothian CALA Community Bursary has helped us to reach some of the most important and inspiring causes in the region. We are looking forward to working with more excellent local charities over the rest of the year.”

In addition, an independent economic analysis by Lichfields calculated that, partly as a result of its focus on local suppliers, the benefit of CALA’s work at Mayburn Park and at four further Midlothian developments would bring an economic boost of more than £300million.

Further CALA Homes (East) developments in Midlothian include: Chapel Lawns in Roslin; and Belwood Oaks in Penicuik.
