Ruby reaches 100 and becomes a media success story, with help from Social care PRexperts
AS BUPA Care resident Ruby Mathieson blew out her candles on the mark of her 100th birthday, she dished out the secrets to looking young for all these years – never wearing makeup.
At Holyrood PR we have a team of social care PR experts who spot the true potential in stories like this – and we shared Ruby’s age-defying secrets, sparking media attention all across the UK and reaching millions of people.
The highlights included:
- Total news coverage reaching more than 3 million people
- A feature length article in The Metro – well known for being one of the UK’s most-read print newspapers
- Coverage on dailymail online, one of the most read online news sites on the planet
- Articles on Scottish national titles such as The Scotsman and Deadline News.
As Ruby celebrated her day with her nearest and dearest, we helped shared stories of her childhood and the formula to living a long life.
In addition to staying clear of cosmetics, Ruby also attributes her good health to long walks, regular holidays and never drinking alcohol.
The centenarian is a resident in the Bupa Wynford Locks care home in Glasgow, a city where she has lived in her whole life. With her family living close by she was able to celebrate this incredible landmark with her loved ones, her friends within the Bupa community – and a big stack of shortbread.
