Wee Venue, Big Welcome as Smallest Pub in Scotland Opens its Doors

G1 Group Press releases

Wee Pub SignCries of ‘make mine a small one’ are set to take on a whole new meaning when Scotland’s newest pub opens on Tuesday, July 2.

The Wee Pub in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket is so small it only has room for about 20 people… at a push!

Measuring just 4.5m by 5.2m, The Wee Pub gives a whole new meaning to the traditional pub snug.

The drinks menu is on a postcard and a handy magnifying glass is being supplied to read it.

It is short on size, but huge on atmosphere, with a fireplace, dresser style bar and high tables and perch seats.

And it is believed to be the smallest pub in Scotland.

STATURE

Bar Manager Brian Murphy says he doesn’t think the tiny bar’s stature matters:  “The Wee Pub may be the smallest pub in Scotland but we believe size isn’t everything.”

“It might not be big, but it will have huge amounts of atmosphere and loads of banter.

“We’ll be serving drinks from three taps as well as a select few spirits. We will also be dishing out food… but don’t expect tiny portions!

“I think we have the X factor, or rather the XXS Factor. I’m sure that although we are small, we will very shortly become a giant institution in Edinburgh’s famous pub scene – where it literally will be standing room only every night.”

The Wee Pub opens on July 2 and is situated at 1 Currie Close, the Grassmarket, Edinburgh.

It is being opened as part of a major refurbishment of famed Irish theme bar Biddy Mulligans which is re-opening its doors on Tuesday.

Biddy’s is set to open on Tuesday afternoon after an eight week refurbishment which will offer a real taste of Ireland for locals and tourists alike. As well as traditional Irish food and drink the bar will also have live music seven nights a week.
