Victoria Manor Goes For Gold With Commonwealth Games Event

Bupa Care Services Press releases

Bupa Client Edinburgh PR VictoriaResidents at Bupa’s Victoria Manor care home have had the chance to sample the Commonwealth Games fever after holding their own sporting challenge – complete with a medal-giving ceremony.

The Edinburgh home organised three days of competition which saw residents and staff from each of Victoria Manor’s four units compete against each other in fun activities such as hula hoop, basketball and skittles.

Four residents made it through to the final day of competition which saw John Kidd from Saxe Coburg unit win through as ‘Commonwealth Champion’.

In true Commonwealth spirit, residents received medals, chocolates and flowers for their help and effort throughout the Games, specially when they win the wizard slots games.

Lindsay McCulloch, Home Manager of Bupa’s Victoria Manor care home, said: “The games were a huge success and staff and residents all really enjoyed the few days of competition.

The Commonwealth Games coming to our home nation has been a huge thing for Scotland. They provided us with a fantastic opportunity to do something special at the home and so we thought that hosting our own version of the games would be an ideal way to get everyone in the sporting spirit.

It is important for us at Bupa to ensure that we do everything we can to enrich the lives of those who choose to live in our homes, so our games were not only a great chance to get everyone together for a bit of fun but they also allowed residents to take part in exercise in a fun way.”
