#KidPresident (Aoibhínn)

Kid President aka Robbie Novak has taken the internet by storm this week. Courageous and compassionate his YouTube ‘Pep Talk’ video campaign is set to inspire the nation and to make them ‘more awesome’. Kid President’s take what it means to be human, inspired by SoulPancake YouTube channel enthused this encouraging statement: “This is life, people. You got air coming through your nose. You got heartbeat. That means it’s time to do something!” The vivacious speech accompanied by some smooth moves and quotes from Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken,” Kid President states, if there really were two paths, “I want to be on the one that leads to awesome.” So if you’re in need of a little encouragement or a bit of motivation then get watching:

NINETIES OBAMA (Sarah)

Everyone loves an Obama parody, right? You know the ones, like when he sings along to Carly Rae Jepson’s ‘Call Me Maybe’. Granted it’s not in tune, and his rhetoric is sometimes stilted, but hey, it shows he’s cool. Anyway, anyone who checked out yesterday’s high fives, will have experienced a slight pull from the nineties, and today’s Obama parody of the Pokémon theme song will do much the same. Not the most sophisticated skit, but hey, it’s Tuesday, who’s being fussy?

ONLY IN IRELAND (Aoibhínn)

Councilors in rural Ireland have proposed a novel way to tackle the issue of drink driving – by making it legal. Kerry County Council has backed plans which would allow An Garda Síochána (the police) to issue permits which would allow holders to consume two or three alcoholic drinks and still drive. Councilor Danny Healy-Rae said the current drink-driving rules were forcing an older generation to stay at home.”All the wisdom and all the wit and all the culture that they had, the music and the singing, that’s all being lost to the younger generation because these older people might as well be living in Japan and Jerusalem because the younger generation don’t see them at all any more.” Certainly a fantastic way to play on Irish stereotypes!

WAZZ WAKE UPS (Sarah)

We’ve all had those days where we wake up, look in the mirror and realise not only have we gone to sleep wearing our makeup meaning we now resemble a geisha in a snow storm, we also went to sleep on a coat hanger and the indent across our nose will probably last a good week. Well, to help you feel better about those days we bring you ’15 Terrible Ways to Wake Up’. I don’t know about you but I’d rather wake up with a sanitary towel attached to my face than to find a small child balancing on it. But maybe that’s just me and I don’t have kids.

KU KLUX CATALOUGUE (Gaynor)

For anyone has not seen Django yet, you should be ashamed. For anyone who has seen it though, I’m sure one of your favourite scenes is the Ku Klux Klan sheet debacle. I bet those guys wished they had access to this catalogue at the time rather than getting one of their wives to make their anti racial dress.
