Can Do Towns innovation challenge enjoys plenty of screen time with help from Edinburgh PR Agency.

Edinburgh PR agency help client get airtime on national newsDELIGHTED organisers of a group which aims to revive towns and communities across Scotland have seen its work featured on prime time TV thanks to Scottish PR.

The Can Do Towns Innovations challenge is partnering with a local group in Carluke on an ambitious scheme to reclaims Scotland’s most historically important windmill.

Thanks to the help of the expert public relations team at Holyrood PR, that project featured in  a three minute interview carried on STV news at  6pm – followed up with a longer report on STV at 8.30pm and again at 10.30pm.

Can Do Towns Innovation Challenge equips local residents with support, advice and skills to realise creative ideas to transform towns, helping boost local economies while reviving community spirit through the creation of new businesses and jobs.

The Carluke Development Trust recently got involved in the challenge, with the intention of reclaiming Scotland’s most important surviving windmill, known locally as the “High Mill”. It was that project which saw Innovation Challenge coordinator Iain Scott and Carluke Development Trust member Tom Sneddon appear on prime time STV news .

Believed to be the most complete windmill in Scotland, the 18th century grain mill was converted from wind power to steam power in the 1830s and then gas in Edinburgh PR agency get coverage for clients in national newsthe early 1900s but hasn’t been in use since before WW2.

The Carluke group aims to turn the disused property into a fully functioning mill again with plans to use it for local produce, all of which was discussed at length during the the STV interview.

“The Innovation Challenge offers a unique opportunity to look at how we can develop our town centres in a different and aspirational way. For too long, we’ve used old thinking and solutions to solve current day problems to revitalise our town centres.

“What has been missed is the realisation that towns like Carluke are full of amazing people and amazing places – and by combining these together there can bring monumental change so we are thrilled we have had the opportunity to inform people about this through STV News.

“We are delighted with the proactive and fast results that Holyrood PR deliver.”
