Education Secretary Mike Russell attended the launch of The Edinburgh Colleges Festival on 26 May.  The event took the form of a gala dinner at Edinburgh’s Telford College, and allowed Telford, Stevenson, and Jewel & Esk to celebrate the achievements of their students before their merger in October.

All hospitality and catering was created and delivered on the night by a team of over 100 students from the three colleges, and while the 130 attendees enjoyed their meals, students from the Stevenson jazz band and Telford choir serenaded the masses.

Russell  was impressed by the students’ abilities and said: “I am certain these students will rise to considerable heights, supported by the expertise and dedicated teaching of passionate lecturers.”

Edinburgh’s Telford College provides a wide range of career related programmes to help learners progress into work or University education. Currently the college has around 17,000 students and 600 members of staff.
