Taxi Drivers Hail Arrival Of Forgan’s and The Promise of a Cuppa

G1 Group Press releases

11-JUL-Forgans-signSt Andrew’s newest food and drink venue is helping local taxi drivers through their shifts with free tea and coffee which will be served in specially created drinking flasks.

It is well known that taxi drivers work long hours and Forgan’s on Market Street, has commissioned thirty drinking flasks to be handed out to taxi drivers working in the local area as well as a promise of unlimited refills of teas and coffees  during their shifts, to help keep them going.

The bar and restaurant which officially opened last month (MAY) is now encouraging taxi drivers in the area to come forward and take advantage of this gesture, by  picking up their own flask from the bar.

Michelle Nabal, General Manager at Forgan’s said: “Our bar staff put in long hours finishing up in the early hours of the morning, yet that is nothing compared to the hours that taxi drivers put in during their shifts and the reality is that most of their shift is spent ferrying customers to bars in the area such as ours.

Promise

“So, as a thank you for ensuring our customers make it to and also make it home from the bar in one piece we thought it would be nice to give hard working cabbies something back and what better way to do so than with the promise of free tea and coffee?

“We have thirty flasks to give away and some drivers have already been in to get theirs and have been very complimentary about the idea as well as the venue so far.

“Hopefully the drivers will enjoy this offer and hopefully they will come and visit us on their days off as well as encourage their passengers to come and give us a try too.”

To get a Forgan’s flask and claim free tea and coffee all drivers have to do is visit the bar and show their taxi license and vehicle number.  They will then be able to pop in at any point during their shift and the bar’s opening hours and staff will happily fill up their flasks.

Ronnie Harrow, owner of local taxi firm, Golf City Taxis Ltd, has already picked up his flask and he said: “I think the flask idea is fantastic as it keeps everyone fueled up during their shift.

Cuppa

“I have 30 drivers in and around St Andrews so having a central stop-off point where they can get a quick break and cuppa is great. All the drivers think it’s fantastic too as they have somewhere where they feel welcome and can get a hot drink before continuing their shift.

“Forgan’s are still quite new to the town but they’re fitting in with the community so well already, especially with special touches like this that really reach out to local businesses and bring us all closer together.”

Bringing something completely different to the eating and drinking scene in St Andrews, Forgan’s which sits behind the popular Mitchell’s Deli in Market Street, has a real emphasis on top quality ‘back to our roots’ dining and entertainment.

As well as a food and drink menu inspired by products from local artisan suppliers and producers, the venue will also play host to Ceilidh clubs every Friday and Saturday night and hold a monthly programme of culinary events and master classes from the experts.
