Successful PR in Scotland for Scothedge

Scothedge Blog

Leading Aberdeen based newspaper the Press & Journal reported the fact that campaigners battling to prevent “hedge rage” disputes between neighbours had taken their campaign to the Scottish Parliament.

The news sheet explained that the Scothedge group lobbied MSPs with a plea for legislation to create guidelines and an arbitration procedure.

The “hedge wars” issue has dogged MSPs for years but there has been no legislation so far. Under present law, the height of a hedge cannot be restricted except by pruning the part overhanging a neighbouring garden.

Campaigners argue that lives have been blighted by “thoughtless” neighbours growing outsize hedges, trees or shrubs.

Campaign leader Dr Colin Watson told the Press & Journal: “We have been fighting for years against the problem of ‘vegetation tyranny’ caused by high hedges in Scotland and the effect it can have on victims’ lives.”

Scothedge turned to Scottish public relations experts Holyrood PR to gain media coverage for their ongoing campaign.
