Amanda Brown, National Accounts Director for Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, said: “We were delighted to be able to host an event like this and are thrilled that the evening proved to be such a success.

As it is the Year of Food and Drink in Scotland, we saw this as a fantastic way to merge East and West by hosting an event that would celebrate the beginning of Lunar New Year and our delicious Scottish produce.sodexo event for food and drink pr story

We are a company that has a strong commitment to the provenance of the food that we use in our dishes, so we were truly delighted to be able to use fresh and seasonal produce in our food and have our suppliers showcase to guests where exactly this produce comes from.

To do all this and to be able to raise money for our own charity through the raffle was wonderful and we couldn’t be more grateful to those who donated to this excellent cause.

We would like to thank those who attended the event, as well as thank our suppliers for coming along to what proved to be an extremely successful evening.”

The Lunar New Year is celebrated in different ways in many Asian countries. The most famous celebration is Chinese New Year, which attaches different astrological animal signs to the next 12 month in a cycle of 12 years.

However, 2015’s year of the “Yang” has caused debate across the globe with no definite answer on whether the animal from the caprinae subfamily is a sheep, goat or antelope.
