A skiing instructor and online poker fan has scooped a ticket to a prestigious gaming tournament in the Caribbean.

Stewart Brown, who started playing online poker five years ago, won a £2500 holiday to the Caribbean Poker Classic (CPC) after triumphing in a tournament run by LittlewoodsPoker.com.

The 39-year-old from Banbridge, is one of just a handful of players across the UK who have won places at the sun-drenched event, which takes place aboard the world’s largest cruise ship The Freedom of the Seas this November.

And he will be joined on the Caribbean high seas by former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland player Tony Cascarino, who is the sponsored professional with Littlewoods Poker, and a host of top players from around the world.

The tournament will be the first event that Stewart has won entry to through LittlewoodsPoker.com, the UK’s trusted name in online gaming which regularly runs competitions to send players to poker tournaments across the globe.

And the dad-of-two, who works as a ski, snowboard and watersports instructor with Craigavon Borough Council, said he was delighted to be going to the prestigious week-long event, which is likely to have a prize pool reaching £500,000 ($1 million).

He said: “I am really excited to be going on this trip, as it is regarded one of the biggest poker events in the world. I usually just play online poker for cash games, so it’s great to get the chance to go to exotic places like this and play against some of the world’s best players.
“When I first got started with online poker five years ago, I was looking for a gaming experience with a large skill factor. I wanted to feel that any success I had would be down to my own skill, rather than just luck.
“I found that online poker was ideal for me and now it has become my main source of income. These days I’m playing six days a week and spend about 20 hours in total on LittlewoodsPoker.com, which can be very rewarding.
“I find online poker is very enjoyable and can be an extremely profitable game. And the good thing about the LittlewoodsPoker.com site is that it is easy-to-use and gives you great incentives, such as big cash tournaments and the chance to win trips to exotic places.
“There’s also a good online community there as well, which I really enjoy. There’s good camaraderie between the players and I’m hoping that a few of the friends I’ve made on the site can win a trip to the CPC so we can meet up.”

Gamers are currently being given the chance to join the lucky player at the CPC event for as little as a £2.50 stake in one of Littlewoods Poker’s daily satellite tournaments.

Every week, punters will be given the chance to win a £2500 Caribbean cruise by triumphing through one of its weekly final tournaments, which take place every Sunday at 6pm.

Stephanie Sammut, Poker Marketing Manager at LittlewoodsPoker.com, said: “The CPC event is a serious competition featuring some of the best poker players in the world, but the trips always prove to be good fun.

“We’re delighted to be taking Stewart to the tournament and wish him the best of luck as he tests his poker skills against professional players on the high seas.

“We’re also giving gamers who use LittlewoodsPoker.com the chance to join Stewart at this exciting event.”

The Caribbean Poker Classic tournament will take place from November 16-23. Players can win holiday packages to the tournament by playing online at LittlewoodsPoker.com every week until mid October.
