Scotland Hockey Stars Visit Fullarton

Bupa Care Services Press releases

Fullarton BUPA Edinburgh PRResidents at Bupa’s Fullarton Care Home in Irvine enjoyed its own winning moment when they hosted a visit from members of the Scotland Commonwealth Games hockey team.

Star players Alan and David Forsyth, are the grandsons of Fullarton care home residents, May and Harry Greig, who have been proudly following their career and the progress of the Scotland team in the Glasgow Games.

The duo – whose dad Derek is coach of the hockey team – are regular visitors to the home but on the lead up to the Commonwealth Games they donned their Team Scotland tracksuits as part of their ‘Going for Gold’ initiative to meet and greet the residents and their grandparents.

Jennifer Campbell, Manager at Bupa’s Fullarton care home, said: “It was fantastic to have the boys come into the home with their Team Scotland tracksuits on and Saltires in hand.

All of us are so proud of them and May and Harry in particular are thrilled that both their grandsons have been competing for their country.

With the boy’s father being their coach, there is a strong link with hockey in their family and so we have all been keeping up to speed with their performance at the Games.

The residents love it when the boy’s come and visit as their team spirit and excitement at representing their country is so inspiring.”

This wasn’t the only opportunity given to Fullarton care home to embrace the Games. The Ayr Road-based care home was visited by the Queen’s Baton on the lead up to the Games giving residents a chance to see and hold the baton.
