The huge 50 inch television was purchased thanks to the Scotmid Community Grant, an initiative that helps deserving causes throughout Scotland.

The residents at Stewart Court, a sheltered housing development, had previously loved their old television, which sadly broke and had not been replaced due to a lack of funds.

However, local Manager Gwen Gilholm became aware of the Scotmid Community Grant and decided it was a great way for the residents to obtain a new flat screen television.

Gwen said: “I had actually planned to purchase a new television for residents before my retirement at the end of August, but the Scotmid Community Grant was a great way to get one now.

“The residents are delighted with it. The Saturday night social is now a big hit with the new big screen.”

Bield – a registered charity in their 41st year of business – has grown from humble beginnings, opening its first housing development in Bo’ness to become a major supplier of a wide range of housing and services for around 20,000 older people across 22 local authorities.
