The much loved diary column in Scotland on Sunday’s business pages will be doubly useful at innovative child-friendly restaurant The Yard, Leith.
Writers of the newpaper’s irreverent Barfly section reported how fish and chips portions served the traditionald way – wrapped in newspaper – are making a comeback at the restaurant.
Tony Delicata, head chef at the Leith venue, started the practice as a joke, in homage to the heyday of the Scotitsh chippie, when takeaways were wrapped in the previous day’s newspaper.
However, it proved so popular he negotiated with health and safety experts on how he could make it permananet feature at the restaurant, where is it is now one of the top menu choices.
Now the amusing tale could be appearing on a platter near you.
