Picture Perfect Golf At East Lothian

U.S. Kids Golf European Championship BlogHolyrood 5

This year’s opening day of the 2012 U.S. Kids Golf European Championships again produced a splash of colour to match some outstanding scores.

Superb weather greeted the 550+ competitors who went into action over the five East Lothian courses.

Shot of the day was Benjamin Schmidt from Barnsley, UK, in the Boys 9 age category who got a hole-in-one at the 15th, 168 yard hole at Gullane No3.  It helped put Benjamin in the lead in his age category with Dominic Clemons of Cambridge, UK.

But the undoubted round of the day was earned by Aadem Syed, of Hayes, West London, who opened his card with an incredible seven consecutive birdies on Craigielaw which took him to the top of his Boys 11 age group.

We – the Holyrood PR, PR in Edinburgh – were on hand to plan a video package of some of the best pictures from day one, which included a special visit from Scottish Sports Minister Shona Robison – you can view the video above.
