PR Scotland gets challenged

Sales and Marketing Director for borders based water engineering firm, Panton McLeod, has risen over £500 in a fundraising cycle for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation which raises money for the early detection and treatment of cancer.

This is not the first challenge Paul has achieved since last year he smashed 185 miles across the Borders Reivers Trail to raise money for the Bubbble Foundation, a baby care unit. This time, the cycle has been three day Coast to Coast through Hadrian’s route.

Paul said: “I’m a keen cyclist and finally saw through one of my goals to complete a charity cycle last year and absolutely loved it, so of course jumped at the chance to do it again this year.

“15 of us completed the route, including my wife Lisa, this is the first time we’ve ever cycled together over such a long distance. Of course there was the usual jokes being batted about but we both really enjoyed the challenge especially when you’re pushing yourself for such a good cause – it makes it completely worth the while and we felt a huge sense of achievement once we’d completed it.”

Paul, who lives in South Shields with his wife and two children, has been able to juggle between work and gruelling trainings cycling to the office every day.

He added: “Although I still cycle pretty regularly we have been training at weekends with friends and therefore I felt confident that we would be able to complete the challenge”

“Some of team were also raising funds for a variety of worthwhile charities, we are still receiving donations and in total we aim to raise £1000. The generosity of my colleagues, our family and friends has been fantastic so a huge thank you goes out to those who supported us. I really enjoyed the challenge and have already started thinking again about the next feat.”

Panton McLeod is one of the UK’s leading experts in the water sector and offers a range of services including cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting and repairing drinking water storage structures for some of the UK’s biggest water companies.
