No Strings Attached

Bosses at Scotland’s leading provider of uniforms and corporate wear thought it was about time to cut the apron strings.

NKD Clothing realised traditional ties on bar and waiting staff’s uniforms were all too susceptible to go wrong – causing an untidy appearance, mess and even a hazard if tied incorrectly.

It now supplies its clients, including Malmaison and Adamo Hotels, revolutionary aprons with belt and buckle fastenings.

Gill Eastgate, Managing Director of the Edinburgh-based company, said: “It is all too easy for a traditional tie apron to go wrong. They have a tendency to be cumbersome and if tied incorrectly look messy and could cause someone to trip.

“With the belt and buckle fastenings it allows staff to easily slot on their aprons and keep them neat and tidy for their entire shift without having to deal with massive strings.

“It is such common sense I wonder why the traditional strings are still used. To me it seems like watching a video when the film’s available on DVD.”

NKD Clothing offers a unique design service, with bespoke corporate wear rather than choices from catalogues so it can spot trends instantly, with in-house designers ready to adapt the uniform make-up straight away.
