NKD Clothing at the fore in hotel style stakes

NKD Clothing Press releases

Fraser Suites artworkRENOWNED corporate couture firm NKD Clothing has enhanced its credentials in the hospitality sector by winning a contract with one of the world’s leading hotel and serviced accommodation brands.

The fast-growing firm has been commissioned to provide bespoke and stylish uniforms to the new Fraser Suites in Edinburgh and Glasgow, which have opened under the world-renowned Fraser Hospitality banner.

NKD Clothing is already established as a leader in the design and supply of superior quality staff uniforms and work wear to the hospitality sector with an impressive client list and Fraser Suites is one of a number of recent business wins in the sector.

Gill Eastgate, managing director of the Edinburgh-based firm said: “We’re delighted with these latest business wins despite the difficulties in the market. It shows that businesses like us and our clients are working extremely hard to overcome the effects of recession.

“We’ve built our entire reputation by showing that an investment in the best quality fabrics and involving staff in the design process is good for business in the long term.

“Well-turned out staff don’t just look better, they perform better and quality garments have a far longer life span then cheap alternatives. We’re delighted that ethos chimes with companies like these.”

The contract with Fraser Hospitality, which incorporates Fraser Suites, Fraser Residence, Fraser Place and Fraser Resorts, is a major boost to the global reputation of NKD. Fraser Hospitality is a leader in serviced residences across the globe with venues in London, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and Bangkok.

Sophisticated

And with high-end apartments due to open in Edinburgh (in May 2009), Fraser Suites turned to NKD Clothing to ensure staff were clothed to match the overall quality of the properties.

The design team came up with a sophisticated black, mushroom and burgundy colour range to match Fraser Suites’ classic branding. Front-of-house staff will wear black suits, mushroom shirts and burgundy ties and scarves, while housekeeping staff will wear black tunics with a contrast neckline in burgundy and embroidered with the company logo.

Jill Robertson, design project manager, said: “It was a pleasure to work with a brand as high profile and global as Fraser Suites. They wanted something to complement their existing branding, which is very striking, so we decided on a colour scheme that would marry the colours from Fraser Suites’ branding.

“The results are fantastic and make a real statement of quality to all customers visiting the Fraser Suites in Edinburgh or Glasgow.”

The work at Fraser Suites comes in addition to other recent work in the sector.

The company won a contract to kit out staff at the new Adamo hotel in Stirling, which follows the success of outfits provided at it the sister hotel – the Adamo in Bridge of Allan – last year.

Staff at the new venue will now be kitted out in brown shirts, grey ties and olive waist aprons, designed to fit in with the natural, muted tones of the hotel itself. The apron designed by NKD Clothing is bespoke to Adamo with intricate buckle detail on the back along with branding.

Key market

Management at Edinburgh’s Links Hotel were also delighted with an order of branded aprons designed and provided by NKD after coming to the clothing company looking for a speedy turnaround.

NKD has also taken on a small order from the Radisson Royal Mile to provide some stylish suits and is hopeful that will lead to additional work.

Gill Eastgate, added: “The hotel and serviced residence industry is a key market for us. We understand it is vitally important that staff look the part and convey the right image to customers.

“We have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry and with companies who have strong ideas about the part staff outfits play in their brand identity.

“That experience is hugely advantageous and allows us to come up with stylish designs which not only suit the image of the hotel but are also appealing to members of staff in terms of both comfort and style.”

NKD Clothing has bucked the economic conditions by refusing to sacrifice quality, while Gill Eastgate has taken part in a gruelling UK-wide push to showcase the firm’s services to potential clients.

Already identified by Scottish Enterprise as a potential high-growth company, NKD Clothing is also now being marketed around the world by the influential Globalscot network.

Already established as one of the UK’s leading designers and providers of bespoke uniforms, work wear and corporate clothing, existing clients include leading hotel chains Malmaison, Hotel du Vin and Dakota.
