WHEN it comes to a backdrop for passion, Edinburgh’s newest boutique hotel is set to become one of the country’s most romantic venues – as it hosts not one, but four unique honeymoon suites.

Fraser Suites Edinburgh is offering honeymooners the chance to start their marriage in style by staying in one of its quartet of themed suites.

The historic Grade B Listed building blends jaw-dropping Victorian opulence with super-stylish contemporary cool for an unforgettable post-wedding getaway.

Nestled between the historic old town of Scotland’s capital and the stylish Princes Street shopping area – Fraser Suites Edinburgh is minutes away from some of the city’s favourite wedding locations.

The hotel is just a short walk from Lothian Chambers registrar’s office on George IV Bridge, and the picturesque St Giles Cathedral – offering couples the chance to conduct their marriage and walk back to their honeymoon hotel.

A panoramic view of Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street and the Firth of Forth awaits them if they then opt to take advantage of the airy open plan living offered by the Princes Suite. Original features such as historic stained glass windows are complimented by mood lighting and walk-in mirrored wardrobes in the uniquely designed apartment.

Meanwhile, guests to the Courant Suite may bask in the luxury of French contemporary design and enjoy the separate living and bed rooms, in the spacious apartment complete with wonderful fireplace.

Deep red upholstery in the plush Observatory Suite lends an air of grandeur to the room which opens out onto a spacious, private balcony overlooking the old town where honeymooners can breakfast thanks to Fraser Suites Edinburgh’s butler service.

The furnished balcony also shares a vista of Carlton Hill with the intimate Quaich Suite, the fourth luxury apartment in the hotel’s generous collection.

Heather Gilchrist, Regional General Manager Frasers Hospitality Scotland, said: “A honeymoon is a hotel stay a couple will cherish for the rest of their wedded lives, it bridges the gap between coupledom and a happy marriage.

“That’s why we at Fraser Suites Edinburgh are so happy we can offer a choice of four exquisite and unique honeymoon suites to newlyweds.

“The Princes, Courant, Observatory and Quaich Suites give couples a wonderful chance to find a room that perfectly suits their relationship – whether it be the dark passion of the Observatory Suite or the beautiful light of the Princes Suite.

“Edinburgh is a wonderfully romantic city that blends history with modern style – and I really think we have captured that opulence in Fraser Suites Edinburgh.

“Couples getting married in one of the city’s beautiful locations like St Giles Cathedral can breeze through their wedding days, with a short walk back to Fraser Suites Edinburgh after the ceremony.”

The boutique hotel, which held its official opening in November, is also just a few minutes walk from the Heart of Midlothian. The heart-shaped design of the cobble stones near St Giles Cathedral marks where the entrance to the Tolbooth was once located – and is a must-visit site for young lovers wandering down the Royal Mile from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace.

The Fraser Suites Edinburgh building dates back to the 1860s when it housed the Edinburgh Courant – one of the first regional newspapers in the UK and whose editors included Robinson Crusoe author Daniel Defoe.

Acclaimed architects Holmes restored the historic building from a derelict shell to a luxury boutique-style hotel.

Guests at Fraser Suites Edinburgh can choose from seven room types, ranging from classic rooms to plush one bedroom suites.

Standard features in all rooms include kitchens or kitchenettes (all with microwave and fridge and some with full hobs), satellite television, designer furniture, Villeroy & Boch bathrooms, iPod docking stations and broadband access. Other features include an on-site gym, restaurant and complimentary city centre shuttle bus. The hotel also features bespoke art commissioned from Edinburgh College of Art throughout.
