banks public consultation glenboig 7Locals living in North Lanarkshire are being invited along to an exhibition to find out more about exciting plans for new housing which are needed to meet demand.

The exciting new development will also mean improved transport links for the area and 700 jobs which will inject new money into the local economy.

Hamilton based firm, Banks Property, is hosting a public exhibition on Thursday 23rd October, designed to give local residents and businesses the chance to learn about its plans for the first phase of a development for more than 1,000 new homes in Glenboig.

The firm has sent out a number of flyers and invitations encouraging as many residents as possible to the event, which will outline the construction plans and demonstrate how the project will help kick start the re-generation of the ex-mining village.

Members of the Banks Property design team will be on hand to discuss the finer details of the first phase of the proposals, which are due to be submitted to North Lanarkshire Council early next year.

This detailed planning application for phase one is in addition to the planning Permission in Principle application which was submitted to North Lanarkshire Council in August 2014

Feedback given at the event will then be used to help shape and finalise plans for the development, which will include a range of desirable homes, community facilities, open green spaces and a new link road, while also injecting an estimated £200 million into the local economy.

Shaping The Future Of Glenboig

Colin Anderson, director at Banks Property, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people living around the proposed development to come and talk to us about how they would like to see the plans progress and deliver these needed new homes in the best way possible

“With years of experience of working with the people living closest to our sites, our tried and tested ‘development with care approach’ means that local residents can input into how our developments can benefit the wider community.

“This latest public exhibition is an ideal opportunity for Glenboig locals to have their say about their vision for the development and in particular it would be fantastic to hear some suggestions for what they would like included within the community hub.

“We’re anticipating a high turnout at the event and look forward to welcoming people to what is an exciting opportunity to get involved in shaping the future of Glenboig.”

The latest exhibition is part of Banks’ extensive consultation with the local community, which has so far seen its plans greeted with a great deal of positivity.

In an area that suffered historically from the loss of its mines and fire clay work, residents can see the potential the development has to revitalise the area.

As well as the new homes, locals will also benefit from improved transport networks, with the introduction of a new link road connecting Glenboig directly to the business park, Gartcosh Station and the M73, freeing up the key junctions and making it quicker and easier for residents to get around.

During the construction of the site, local businesses are also set to welcome a boost as they are encouraged to join Banks’ supply chain which in turn will create a wealth of employment opportunities, estimated at 700 jobs.
