But before the big event kicks off, Musselburgh Racecourse will be hoofing it over to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on Friday 19th August to dish out some goodies ahead of the upcoming raceday.

Festival goers are being encouraged to embrace their wild side and step into the horsebox, which will temporarily be set up at Middle Meadow Walk from 11am-4pm, to perform their best horse impression and be in with a chance of winning an exclusive prize.

The prizes will include Caledonian Brewery Raceday tickets, a private beer tasting session and VIP tour at the historic Edinburgh brewery and much more.

Sarah Montgomery, Senior Operations and Commercial Manager at Musselburgh Racecourse, is a big fan of the Edinburgh Fringe and is delighted that Musselburgh Racecourse will be joining in with the festivities this year.

She said: “Musselburgh Racecourse is all about the fun; our racedays encourage people to let their hair down and really enjoy themselves so we are extremely excited to be able to join in with the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year.

“The festival brings thousands upon thousands of people from across the world to the Capital every year so it’s a great opportunity for us to meet new people and showcase Edinburgh’s Racecourse to those who may not have visited it before.”

Musselburgh Racecourse has teamed up with Edinburgh’s oldest working brewery to provide the ultimate raceday on Saturday 10th September for those feeling a little bitter about the end of the Fringe Festival.

The Caledonian Brewery Raceday will feature the Caledonian Beer Festival, giving racegoers the chance to sample an array of beers whilst enjoying top quality racing.

Following on from the success of last year, this year’s Caledonian Raceday is set to be bigger and better than ever before. There are a total of seven flat races including the £20,000 Caledonian Cup and two harness races, as well as live music, delicious street style food and the opportunity to soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the Scottish beer festival marquee.

Andy Mitchell, Marketing Manager at Caledonian Brewery said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Musselburgh Racecourse once again. The raceday is always a fantastic experience with an enjoyable atmosphere – and what better way to kick-start the much loved race day than at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

“Caledonian Brewery is oldest working Brewery in Edinburgh and we work hard to ensure our products suit our customers’ needs so we are looking forward to hearing what race goers think of the array of beers on offer on the day.”

Courtesy buses will be available on the day from Wallyford and NewCraighall train stations for savvy revellers looking to take advantage of the convenient public transport services to Musselburgh.

Sarah continued: “The Caledonian Brewery Raceday is a popular event every year and it just keeps getting bigger and better. It features the Caledonian Beer Festival and what better way to enjoy some top quality racing than with the best beer in Edinburgh.

“We have had an outstanding year so far from world class jockeys racing, Her Majesty The Queen visiting and selling out once again for our annual Ladies Day event. We are extremely excited for the next few months and looking forward to welcoming racegoers through the doors for our remaining events of 2016.”

Musselburgh Racecourse is firmly established as one of the UK’s most stylish racecourses, hosting 28 flat and jumps meetings each year. Already popular with racing enthusiasts, it is a draw for both families and corporate clients.

Musselburgh Racecourse, which is currently in its 200th anniversary year, just celebrated a sell-out success at its recent Stobo Castle Ladies Day, followed by a high-profile visit from the Queen, who unveiled a new sculpture to mark the prestigious bicentenary.
