CALA homes (East) has kept things local after it employed
based interior designer to transform not just one, but all four show properties at its Dalmeny Park development in the historic town.

Luma Interiors is a Scottish firm that has specialised in tailored interior design solutions since 1999. After being approached by CALA in 2008, Luma has gone on to design 18 showhomes and three show apartments across the East of Scotland for the luxury property developer.

Owner and designer of the award winning interiors, Joanne McDonald, is delighted to have been given the opportunity to bring her work back to her hometown and has designed the two showhomes and two show apartments to coincide with the unique local area.

Joanne moved from Glasgow to South Queensferry 25 years ago and has never looked back. She said: “I think it’s the perfect place to live. There is always things going on locally and with the beautiful coastline, award winning eateries and country walkways you’re never short of something to do. On top of that you have the best transport links into Edinburgh for those seeking a splash of the city life.”

The location of the property is a leading factor in the design process and therefore CALA Homes (East) felt it was necessary to appoint an interior designer from Hall Interiors who knew and appreciated its history to create the picture perfect home.

Joanne added: “The setting of the development is what helps inspire the interior of each house and give it some personal character. It’s important to ensure that a little bit of the local area is brought inside as ultimately that is the overall appeal to house hunters.

“For the Dalmeny Park development I considered the spectacular bridges and nearby idyllic beaches to create the industrial, yet peaceful, design in each show home and apartment.”

The design process takes around six months from start to finish and Joanne does everything entirely by herself.

Joanne continued: “Every showhome and apartment I design is unique. Each house has around 1000 different items to be sourced, ordered, delivered, labelled and installed – from the largest piece of furniture down to the last teaspoon.

“Despite being a lot of hard work it is extremely rewarding as I get to play a large part in helping house hunters find their dream home.”

All homes and apartments at Dalmeny Park have been designed with flexible living in mind and epitomise the high quality for which CALA Homes is renowned. The idyllic setting boasts all the benefits of quaint living, but with great amenities close-by, including a selection of independent restaurants and shops brimming with local charm.

Joanne’s original designs have gone on to be a huge success with one show apartment already being snapped up. The second show apartment is now available to buy with a rare opportunity for house hunters to move straight into a professionally designed and fully furnished property.

The two bedroom ground floor apartment is complete with lighting, window dressing and accessories enabling the easiest of moves for home buyers at a price of £260,000.

Stala Thomson, Sales Manager at CALA Homes (East), said: “We were delighted to be able to work with Luma Interiors for our Dalmeny Park development. Having someone who knows the area has proved to be a huge advantage. The designs reflect on the local area perfectly and we’re over the moon with the finished result.

“At Dalmeny Park, buyers know they get outstanding property for their money and the development is ideally situated to provide commuters with incredible access to Scotland’s major cities.

“The town is extremely social, and prospective buyers can look forward to being welcomed into a community that thrives on its neighbourliness.

“We would urge anyone keen to discover all that this development has to offer, particularly the two bedroom show apartment which is now available to buy, to come along to see the beautiful site and register their interest as soon as possible.”

Those looking to find out more information on the homes and apartments available at the development are being encouraged to contact CALA on 01324 600 268 or visit the development website – where potential buyers can register their interest and discover more of what the luxury range of properties have to offer.
