Scottish PR For Perth Land & Property Agency Bell Ingram

Leading Land and Property Managements Agents, Bell Ingram have shown support for new trends emerging in the game sector as published in the latest study by Scottish Natural Heritage.

The report found that even though still a male dominated field, there is an emerging trend of women entering the profession.

Charlotte Gilfillan, of Bell Ingram said “As a former gamekeeper, I worked on a number of estates and agree that it is a very much male dominated role. The type of work that a keeper is required to do involved a lot of physical strength and it’s no surprise that most are men. There are some excellent female keepers in Scotland and although there are now more opportunities than ever for women to be involved in gamekeeping, they still have to be able to compete with their male counterparts.”

Mike Thompson, Director at Bell Ingram, said: “The results from the SNH study will not come as a surprise to many with a good grasp on the sector. The landscape is evolving and whilst I’m seeing more women coming into the sector who can compete at the same level as their male equivalents, I am also seeing more young people coming into the field which is very encouraging for the growth of the next generation.”

Scotland’s game sector continues to thrive, employing 58,00 workers who manage and conserve for habitats and wildlife and it is estimated that sports enthusiasts spend an average of £43 million per year on Scottish Estates.
