The Scottish Daily Mail have featured an article on the surprising increase from potential home owners in property on a small island off the coast of Scotland.

Property experts at Bell Ingram have noticed an increase in interest in the Isle of Tiree, which is home to just 800 people. Steven Hornby, Property Manager at their Oban office notes that this could be down to the recent fluctuation in the property market, which has seen house prices in the area decrease by up to 30%.

And, with proposals to build one of Scotland’s largest wind farms just offshore, the population on the island is set to increase by around 300 people.

Steven Hornby added in the article: “Tiree really is a dream home. It has its own microclimate as the most westerly isle of the Inner Hebrides in the Gulf Stream, with more hours of sunshine than the mainland and less hours of rain.

“It is popular with windsurfers and kite surfers, it has beautiful beaches – it really is the place to be.”

House hunters can purchase a three bedroom home in the crofting community from as little as £150,000.
