KILLER CURRY FIGHT CLUB (Laura)

Lovers of all things extreme we couldn’t resist but try out some of the world’s hottest curry, which left several people hospitalised over the weekend after a curry eating competition went horribly wrong. Armed with this knowledge we went in forks blazing and each of us tried a wee bit of the fiery stuff and filmed it all for your pleasure. The results are hilarious and as you can see from our expressions it really really was hot and we could feel the burn for hours after swallowing! Thank goodness we had ice lollies in the freezer!

AVENGE ME THOR! (Adrian)

It’s one of next summer’s most eagerly anticipated movies – and the internet has now gone mental after the first teaser trailer for The Avengers was released online. The comic book hero adventure sees the teaming up of Marvel’s A-list characters Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and the Incredible Hulk (among others), and the first footage is sure to cause countless nerdgasms among geeks the world over. From the footage here, it looks pretty awesome too. With this and the new Batman film on the horizon, it may be a good year for comic book nerds in 2012.

WANT TO SEE TINY LITTLE THINGS IN GLORIOUS DETAIL? THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT (Scott)

Forget Angry Birds, Shazam, virtual spirit levels and exercise trackers – if you want the ultimate iPhone app, then check out this wee beauty!

For just $30 (ok, so the price isn’t microscopic) you can get a modification which involves sticking an extra lens on the iPhone camera, which will turn it into x350 magnification microscope. Ideal for examining teeny wee things normally not visible. Like dust mites, ants eggs, skin flakes, hair follicles and blackhead squeezing. On second thoughts, maybe best not to bother….

IF YOU GO INTO THE WOODS TODAY YOU’RE SURE OF A BIG SURPRISE (Aimee)

Check out this wonky bunch of trees found in a Polish forest.   Poland’s mysterious ‘Crooked Forest’ in Gryfino sees trees which grow with a 90 degree bend at the base of their trunks-all bent northward.  The forest appears even more bizarre due to its straight edged neighbours in the north-west area of Poland.  The curvy pines, of which there are around 400, were planted in around 1930 and grew for seven to 10 years before being held down in what is being regarded as a human mechanical intervention.  It remains a mystery to why the original tree farmers wanted so many crooked trees. One thing is for sure, you wouldn’t want to be running away from a maniac in these woods.
