Just because it’s Thursday doesn’t mean we have taken our eye off the news – in fact it makes us more determined to find the best we can so we can bring in the weekend with style! Today we bring you two videos, and three news stories, fresh as a daisy from the world of the media. Can’t you just smell the flowery aroma? Tell us what you think via our facebook and twitter pages.

A BIT OF PEPSI MAGIC? (Laura)

This great video clip of David Beckham kicking three footballs into three far away trash cans, has been uploaded onto Pepsi’s YouTube channel and so far has achieved 815,000 views. Whilst the shots are impressive, somehow it seems slightly unbelievable that Beckham managed to kick all three on target on the spot and sceptics are suggesting that Pepsi’s editing department have given the footballer a helping hand. What’s more it seems all too convenient that he happens to be on a beach, holding a Diet Pepsi bottle with a cameraman at the moment when he performs an amazing trick shot – hmm! Watch the video and tell us what you think!

CATASTROPHE STILL HAS POWER TO SHOCK A MONTH ON (Scott)

Almost a month since Japan was devastated by an earthquake and Tsunami, incredible footage is still emerging. This video has appeared on YouTube in the past 24 hours and has already had 2.1m views. It is said to have been captured near a school in South Sanriku City. The videographer indicated that he was initially hesitant to post the footage. What is most compelling is seeing stragglers try to flee the rising water as the full scale of its destructive power slowly becomes evident.

THERE’S NO ACCOUNTING ON TASTE (Raymond)

So, who do you reckon is the most successful X factor act – last year’s winner Matt Cardle, or even Joe McElderry (remember him?)?  Not even close.

Jedward – who embody everything around you either-love-them-or-loathe-them mindset – pocketed an estimated £2.85m last year through all their appearances and endorsements.  By the way, Irish teenage twins finished sixth!

NAKED HANDCUFFED WOMAN BEATS RIVALS (Andrea)

A portrait of a naked woman handcuffed to a rock has been shortlisted for a prestigious art award. The entries to this year’s BP Portrait Award reached more than 2,300 and the shortlist contains a mixture of both striking and unconventional poses – one shows a woman wearing rollers in her hair and blue gloves on her hands, whilst holding an enormous carving knife.

ONLY IN JAPAN (Adrian)

You have to love some of the crazy things that come out of Japan. From robots that can carry out wedding ceremonies through to pillows shaped like a woman’s lap, it seems that if you want something bizarre, the Land of the Rising Sun is the place to go.

The latest piece of madness to make its way into Japan’s shops is the jean pants. Not to be confused with Daisy Duke jean shorts, these are jeans that you wear under your jeans.

They’re already been tipped as the must-have item of clothing for fashionistas in the East and for £60 you too can have a pair of what must be the most uncomfortable pants in the world.
