ALL MY LIFE NOW APPEARS A SINGLE BEAUTIFUL MOMENT TO ME (Scott)

In the west, when it comes to understanding the history of space travel, we’re weaned on the momentous words of Neil Armstrong. But as the world marks the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s epic journey to become the first human in space, this film recreates his journey. It combines original audio, photography and film, with footage from the international space station. Watch at least the first 10 minutes – and feel your skin prickle as you listen to Gagarin’s simple, elegant and history-changing pre-launch speech. Amazing.

SPOOKY PREVIEW (Andrea)

A film adaptation of one of the scariest plays ever to have graced the theatre stage has finally been made – and this preview is a little teaser for what audiences will have to look forward to. The play has been described as a terrifying live experience, and with the endless possibilities in cinema today, I hope this proves to be even scarier than the theatre experience – if that’s possible.

ANGRY BIRDS WIN APPY AWARD (Laura)

The popular app Angry Birds was handed the top spot for best game app and best overall app of the year at this year’s Appy Awards, which were held last night (11th April) proving just how successful the game in which birds hurl themselves at green pigs has become. The Appy Awards recognise the best apps out there at the moment and from looking at the list of winners it is no surprise at some of the apps which appear; Facebook took the gong for biggest time waster, Skype for biggest money saver and Google maps for best time saver. Not content with winning big, Angry Birds developers have plans to make it even bigger and better and the link below reveals a little bit of what developers have in store for Angry Bird fans.

I’LL HAVE THEM IN A SIZE CHEESE PLEASE (Pamela)

A fashion student from Bath University has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘cheesy feet’, by making her very own ‘Jimmy Cheese’ shoes using West County cheddar and stale bread.  A range of ‘cheese couture’ footwear will be displayed at the 2011 Royal Bath and West Show to promote the region’s cheese.  Nice!

BIG FIRMS GO SO-SO ON SOCIAL MEDIA (Raymond)

Sixty of the FTSE 100 firms still show no sign of engaging in social media, according to research by comms specialist Radley Yelder.  The findings have prompted suggestions on how really committed the blue chips are to open and honest dialogue – and that they risk being overtaken by smaller and more agile companies.
