THIS LITTLE PIGGY WENT TO JAIL, THIS LITTLE PIGGY SPARKED A RIOT…(Scott)

When this modern day version of the Three Little Pigs fairy tale appeared on my TV during the ads earlier this week, I was transfixed. Kudos to The Guardian for creating an advert which achieves so much in less than 60 seconds – it is clever, thought-provoking, slick and memorable. If only all ads were this good.

APPLE WORTH MORE THAN POLAND (Lewis)

Basically the title says it all, Apple are showing their dominance in today’s society by having more money than an entire European country. Apple is now worth more than Poland as its stock market value hit more than $500billion for the first time today.
They become only the sixth company in history to soar past half a trillion dollars just days before the launch of the iPad 3 on March 7. Apple are now worth $506bn – in contrast Poland, with a population of 38 million people, has a GDP figure of just $497b

LUCKY NUMBERS (Victoria)

A Penicuik teenager is richer to the tune of £52,981 after finding an old lottery ticket in the depths of his messy bedroom after being nagged by his mother to clean it.
Ryan Kitching, 19 had purchased the ticket in Tesco where he works and had forgotten all about it until he came across it in amongst his junk filled room.
His mother had been nagging him for weeks to sort out the junk to no avail and his first instinct was to throw the ticket out upon discovery.
Luckily, he had it checked, and was astounded when he found out that he had won the cash, and still doesn’t quite believe it.
He plans to buy his long suffering parents a holiday and put a deposit down on a flat.
I am now going to start playing the lottery!!!

THE SIMPSONS EVOLVED (Gaynor)

I have never really been a big fan of The Simpsons but this links it quite hilarious. If you are familiar with the characters you will be interested to find out what happens to the Simpsons children when they grow up as they never seem to do in the series. For all Bart fans, he does just what you think he is going to do- he becomes a bum. Lisa seems to go through a phase of ‘liking women’ but eventually ends up marrying Bart’s pal Millhouse and having a family. The biggest surprise of all is the baby of the family Maggie who goes on to be a music superstar.  Happy ending for all then!

GREAT NEWS FOR SCOTTISH TOURISM (Emma)

Today it was announced that VisitScotland and Disney are to collaborate on a joint marketing campaign in the run up to the release of Pixar’s latest release.  The film “Brave” will be set in the Scottish Highlands and it is thought that it will boost Scotland’s tourism industry drastically.  Scottish stars Billy Connolly, Robbie Coltrane and Kelly MacDonald are all set to feature in the cinematic release.  Judging by the success of Pixar’s previous offerings, the film is sure to be a big hit, so here’s hoping it brings lots of positive media attention and tourism to the country!
