Residents at a Bupa care home have emerged the winners after a race night raised more than £400 to fund transport for extra future day trips.
Staff at Bupa’s Highgate care home in Uddingston joined residents, friends and family for the event held in the town’s Thorniewood Social Club.
Staff sponsored six races and encouraged residents to place bets, backing any horse of their choosing. Both staff and residents then donated half of their winnings to the home – raising more than £400.
Michelle Ferrey, Home Manager at Highgate, who organised the event, said: “We were thrilled by the amount of money we raised and would like to thank staff and residents who took part in our race night.
“The money will help pay for buses to take our residents on more trips and outings, which they all look forward to.
“We had great fun and now we are all now looking forward to the next one.”
