Eagle Couriers Press releases

Adele ClarkA young woman from West Lothian has been in the pink this week as she laced up and embraced the electric atmosphere at the UK’s biggest Race for Life event.

Pounding the pavements alongside 14,000 mothers, daughters and grandmothers, 26 year old Adele Clark took part in the Glasgow 5k run to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Inspired by her friend’s battle against bowel cancer, Adele took to Glasgow’s streets in style as she donned her prettiest pink gear and crossed the finish line in an impressive 45 minutes.

Adele who works as an Operations Assistant at Scotland’s largest independent courier company, Eagle Couriers, said she has been overwhelmed by the support she has received.

Adele said: “I’ve been really touched by all the kind words and support from not only my friends and family but from my colleagues at Eagle Couriers.

“It was a really emotional day as everyone was running for a reason so close to their heart but we were all in such high spirits.

“Although I hadn’t done much in the way of training before the event I was delighted to finish in under 45 minutes.

“My target had been to complete the race in an hour but I really think the atmosphere on the day made me run that bit faster.

“I would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me so far, especially my colleagues and directors at Eagle Couriers who have all been so incredibly generous.”

So far Adele has raised over £350 for Cancer Research UK which she hopes will go towards helping others touched by the illness.  When Adele’s bosses heard about her inspirational challenge they decided to dig deep themselves to help boost her fundraising goal.

Jerry Stewart, Director at West Lothian based Eagle Couriers, said: “It’s great to see one of our colleagues involved in such a worthwhile event and as soon as we heard about Adele’s challenge we all got together to donate money to her fund.

“We’re all very proud of Adele for her fantastic fundraising efforts and I’d like to say a big well done on behalf of everyone at Eagle Couriers.”
