Plymouth Evening Herald articleOrganisers of the 2009 U.S. Kids Golf European Championships have issued a call to action to young golfers from areas in the UK that won’t be represented in the prestigious tournament.

More than 400 young golfers from some 30 countries worldwide will be travelling to East Lothian, Scotland, in May to compete for the title of U.S. Kids Golf European Champion.

But a handful of regions across the UK has so far yielded no competitors and will therefore be unrepresented in the tournament.

John Godwin, tournament director and former PGA tour player, said: “We already have kids from around 30 countries competing from as far afield as Australia, Hawaii and Colombia so the international flavour of the tournament is not in doubt.

“However, we want as many clubs, unions and associations represented as possible and would invite any talented youngsters who have not already registered for the tournament to do so as quickly as possible.

“The event is a vital tool in the golfing development of youngsters by allowing them to compete in an international field. However, above everything else it’s good fun and lets them experience golf on some terrific and historic courses.”
