AYR RESIDENTS GET GLAMMED UP WITH SPA DAY

Bupa Care Services Press releases

A CARE home in Ayr has held its very first spa day to treat its residents to some well-deserved TLC.

Bupa’s Claremont Care Home transformed a room which is usually used as a hair salon into a spa to create a zen atmosphere for a day of pampering.

Inspired by the home’s hairdresser, who visits twice a week to care for residents’ hair, staff at Claremont decided to set up the spa to offer indulgent treatments, including manicures and hand massages.

Plants and electric candles were brought in to create a relaxing mood and staff revamped tables to create a nail bar. Refreshments, nibbles and fizz were also served up to add to the tranquil atmosphere.

For less mobile residents, staff decorated a trolley and brought the spa to them, providing the various treatments in the comfort of their own rooms.

Katherine Thomson, Activity Co-ordinator at Bupa’s Claremont Care Home, was really pleased with the positive feedback from residents for the first spa day.

She said: “The residents were absolutely thrilled to have a day dedicated to pamper treatments. The ladies in particular loved having their nails done and kept showing them off to each other and the nurses.

“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed getting some TLC, and the available treatments also have therapeutic benefits for our residents, particularly the massages for those who suffer from joint pain (at Massage Delray Beach).

“Given the fantastic feedback, we will definitely be looking to transform the room into a relaxing spa more frequently and our staff are also already queuing up to join in with the fun.”
