Water quality engineering firm Panton McLeod Scottish PR for water experts latest engineering work

Water quality engineering firm Panton McLeod has completed one of its most ambitious and challenging projects with a series of tank cleans in some of the most remote islands in Scotland.

The Scottish Borders-based firm, which specialises in the cleaning, inspection and repair of facilities used to store drinking water, completed a series of work in the Western Isles for Scottish Water – which included cleaning four underground water storage tanks in a single day.

The project included a day’s work at the Water Treatment Works on the Isle of Barra, which saw a team of Panton McLeod engineers drain four tanks at the island’s water treatment works before washing, chlorinating and filling them back for service.

Engineers from the firm also performed a night-time clean at a tank on the highest point of the Isle of Tiree, in addition to cleaning four tanks in two days at a water treatment works on the Isle of Coll.

Paul Hogarth – Team Leader at Panton McLeod who was responsible onsite for these remote cleans – said “To meticulously clean four tanks at Barra Water Treatment Works, get the samples approved and back into service in a single day is a remarkable achievement and one that we are proud of.

Water quality expertise

“In the case of the Isle of Tiree night job, the team managed to complete the whole project in less than 3 hours, which only reinforces our credentials as the country’s best water quality engineering company.”

The project is the latest high-profile work that Panton McLeod has completed for Scottish Water. For the past 15 years, the firm has provided expertise in cleaning and repairing water structures across Scotland – which has included contributions to some of the biggest water projects Scottish Water has undertaken, such as the £120 million Loch Katrine scheme.

Earlier this year, the firm agreed a new deal with Scottish Water – arranged as part of an ongoing Price and Supply Agreement – that included cleaning and disinfecting more than 400 service reservoirs and water tanks across the Ness, Don, Tayside and Ayrshire regions, helping to further improve water purity for customers in Scotland.

Iain Weir, Managing Director added: “We have carried out a lot of intensive and time-sensitive work across the UK over the years, but these cleans in the Western Isles are among the most challenging we have completed.

“The team proved that they were more than up to the task by cleaning tanks in some very remote locations and their expertise ensured that the projects were completed swiftly and with minimum disruption to customers’ supplies.”

PR in Scotland for water firm

Borders-based Panton McLeod regularly provides a range of cleaning, inspection and repair services for Scottish Water across the whole of the country. It also works with some of the biggest names in the water sector – including Severn Trent Water and Welsh Water – to provide similar services throughout the UK.

In addition to traditional drain down projects, the firm has also pioneered the use of innovative underwater robots which can be used to clean and inspect service reservoirs or tanks while they are still online – further minimising disruption to customers’ supplies.

Panton McLeod is supported by the expert PR in Scotland team from Holyrood Partnership, which provides public relations in Edinburgh and across the UK.
