A New Choice For Marathon Runners

Fundraising UK Online announces event addition to The Caledonian Challenge

The Scottish Community Foundation has made The Caledonian Challenge more flexible, now allowing runners to choose which charities will benefit from the money they raise and pick between a 26-mile course and the traditional 54-mile trek.

Events Director John Mercer said: “Because of the length of the course we have not seen many endurance or charity runners opting to run in it in previous years.  We hope that this will encourage more athletes to ender the 2012 event.”

Both courses are set in the Highlands, the traditional Challenge taking runners over the West Highland Way.

Since its inception in 1996 The Caledonian Challenge has attracted more than 14,000 participants who have raised over £11 million for The Scottish Community Foundation – dispersing  grants to help achieve lasting impacting across Scotland’s communities.
