SESAME STREET TORTURE (Victoria)
US TV show Sesame Street has captured the hearts of children everywhere since it first hit screens in 1969, for it’s blend of educational content, creativity, humour and the loveable cast including Big Bird and Elmo.
According to reports by Al Jazeera, detainees at Guantanamo Bay were forced to endure hours of Sesame Street music through headphones as a form of torture.
The use of music in interrogation is not a new technique, with previous reports of Metallica and Drowning Pool being used.
I could never imagine Sesame Street being used in a sinister way, it is quite shocking really!

THUNDERBIRDS ARE … REAL? (Lewis)
5…4…3…2…1 Thunderbirds are go, is one of the most iconic intros for a children’s television show. For those who watched the show, we all remember Tracy Island as the hiding spot for the Thunderbirds.
It looks like there is a real Tracy Island in Japan! A tropical, volcanic island in the Phillipine Sea that bears a remarkable resemblance to the home of International Rescue in Gerry Anderson’s hit Sixties series.
There are only two ways to get on or off the outcrop: by helicopter or by boat. Those choosing to sail must arrive or depart from one, small, unreliable harbour which is often rendered useless by bad weather. As such, it’s a far cry from the Tracy Island of Thunderbirds fame, with its fleet of technologically advanced rescue vehicles poised to save the world 24 hours a day.
Indeed, Aogashima is noted for its peace and quiet, as a place to escape the relentless bustle of urban life and commune again with nature.
WORLD’S BEST BARTENDER? (Laura)
Is this the world’s best bartender? Ukraine has had a lot of bad press lately but this video is sure to put a smile on your face. Alexander Shtifanov was on a Ukrainian Talent Show, the equivalent of Britain’s Got Talent, and wowed the judges and audience with his fantastic juggling skills and charm. Alexander juggles vodka bottles, first with 3 bottles then 4 and with the use of slow motion cameras the audience can see how difficult what he is doing is. It also acts as a great effect to this already spectacular show. The slow motion is also used to watch when he chucks liquid from one shaker to another. Cocktail makers have always been something I find interesting and fun to watch and this one has been one of the best so far!
FESTIVAL ESSENTIALS (Gaynor)
As an avid festival goer I have to say I am somewhat relived that I only purchased a day ticket this year. After a wet T in the Park last year I vowed never to put myself through the trials of camping again. Saying that I do always say this and thought I would change my mind by the time this year’s festival came around. It’s safe to say I have not changed my mind and I am only going for the Saturday! However for those of you who can still rough it here is a very good essentials guide to what you will need to get you through Scottish festivals come rain or shine!

AMEX BRINGS FOURSQUARE REWARDS TO THE UK (Scott)
The location based service Foursquare, which you use from your phone, never seems to have fully caught on in Scotland. I’m still a dedicated user, more by sheer force of habit than anything else. So, I’m intrigued to see how the new partnership between Amex and Foursquare will fare in the UK, after it was very well-received in the US (just a shame I ended a 16-year relationswhip with Amex in 2011 after a horrendous customer service experience –http://bit.ly/MaPkdH).
